Chapter 44: Icons Hotel
Hotel Icons
Let me explain very clearly and honestly (teacher mode on):
Font Awesome 5 does NOT have an official “Hotel Icons” category.
There is also no separate “Hotel Icons” page on W3Schools for Font Awesome 5.
What usually happens is:
- People search “Font Awesome 5 hotel icons”
- They find results from Font Awesome 6 / 7 (which do have a Hotel category)
- Or they see old blog posts / CodePen demos mixing FA5 + FA6
- Or they look at the W3Schools Font Awesome 6 Hotel page and think it’s FA5
So today I’m going to teach you the real situation for Font Awesome 5 (the version W3Schools still teaches in their FA5 lessons in 2026).
1. Hotel Icons actually available in Font Awesome 5 Free
Font Awesome 5 has no dedicated “Hotel” category.
You can only use general-purpose icons that people repurpose for hotel / travel / accommodation themes. Here are the ones most commonly used for hotel-related designs in FA5 free:
| Icon name | Code example | Looks like | Typical hotel / accommodation use |
|---|---|---|---|
| fa-hotel | <i class=”fas fa-hotel”></i> | ๐จ Hotel building | Main hotel / motel icon (the only direct one) |
| fa-bed | <i class=”fas fa-bed”></i> | ๐๏ธ Bed | Room / bedroom / hotel bed |
| fa-concierge-bell | <i class=”fas fa-concierge-bell”></i> | ๐ Concierge bell | Hotel reception / service bell |
| fa-suitcase | <i class=”fas fa-suitcase”></i> | ๐งณ Suitcase | Travel / luggage / hotel check-in |
| fa-suitcase-rolling | <i class=”fas fa-suitcase-rolling”></i> | ๐งณ Rolling suitcase | Luggage / airport / hotel arrival |
| fa-key | <i class=”fas fa-key”></i> | ๐ Room key | Hotel room key / access card |
| fa-door-open | <i class=”fas fa-door-open”></i> | ๐ช Open door | Check-in / room entry |
| fa-door-closed | <i class=”fas fa-door-closed”></i> | ๐ช Closed door | Do not disturb / privacy |
| fa-wifi | <i class=”fas fa-wifi”></i> | ๐ถ Wi-Fi | Free Wi-Fi in hotel |
| fa-swimmer | <i class=”fas fa-swimmer”></i> | ๐ Swimming | Hotel swimming pool |
| fa-utensils | <i class=”fas fa-utensils”></i> | ๐ฝ๏ธ Fork & knife | Restaurant / room service |
| fa-coffee | <i class=”fas fa-coffee”></i> | โ Coffee | Breakfast / room coffee |
| fa-parking | <i class=”fas fa-parking”></i> | ๐ ฟ๏ธ Parking | Hotel parking |
| fa-shuttle-van | <i class=”fas fa-shuttle-van”></i> | ๐ Airport shuttle | Hotel shuttle service |
These are the icons people actually use for hotel websites in Font Awesome 5.
2. What people usually mean when they ask for “FA5 Hotel Icons”
They are almost always thinking about Font Awesome 6 or 7 (released starting 2022), which added a proper Hotel category in the free version.
Here are the most important hotel-specific icons that exist in FA6/7 free (not in FA5):
- fa-bed-front ๐๏ธ (more modern bed)
- fa-bell-concierge ๐ (newer concierge bell)
- fa-door-closed / fa-door-open ๐ช
- fa-key-skeleton ๐ (old-fashioned key)
- fa-luggage-cart ๐ (hotel bellhop cart)
- fa-person-booth (check-in counter)
- fa-sign-hanging ๐ชง (hotel signboard)
- fa-spa ๐ง (spa / massage)
- fa-toilet-paper ๐งป (bathroom)
- fa-wifi-strong ๐ถ (strong Wi-Fi)
So when you see beautiful hotel icon sets online in 2025โ2026 (with concierge bell, luggage cart, spa, etc.), they are 99% of the time using Font Awesome 6 or 7, not FA5.
3. Real code examples โ what you can do with FA5
